Community-Based Learning

At CRPCNS we take a three-pronged approach in introducing our children to communities:

1. Classroom Community

The foundation for our classroom community supports consistent, positive, caring relationships between teachers, parents, and the children.

  • Guiding our children with developing lifelong skills

  • Offering opportunities for children to play together and collaborate

  • Interacting in small groups to:

    • Extend their thinking

    • Practice emerging language skills

    • Build on ideas

    • Cooperate to solve problems

2.  Community Integration

To enrich our curriculum and provide an enhanced educational experience beyond the classroom setting, we have built solid partnerships throughout our community. These partnerships provide our children with real-life and hands-on experiences.

  • Field trips to or visits from local businesses include:

    • Police station

    • Fire station

    • Grocery stores

    • Library

    • Flying Frogs Academy - Parkour Gymnasium

    • Local city and regional parks

    • Pumpkin patches

    • Apple farms

    • Animal sanctuaries

    • Veronda Falletti Ranch

In 2022, the CRPCNS children became the inaugural “Chicken Keepers Club” with Sandy Loam at Veronda Falletti Ranch.  The children also visit Veronda Falletti monthly for garden experiences.

3.  Service Learning

Annually, our families participate in a project to support our community in a meaningful way. Our children actively participate to gain a better understanding of the importance of giving back to the community we love so much!

Past projects have included:

  • Collaborating with the Redwood Empire Food Bank to collect food during the holiday seasons

  • Creating holiday cards for seniors in our community

  • Collecting donations for the Humane Society
